    Additional information:
    • The damascene technique is a delicate craft used for millennia by the most refined civilizations of their time: Egypt, Greece, Rome, Japan and China, to name just a few examples. It consists, basically, in the realization of ornamental motifs by inlaying, with a small hammer, gold threads or sheets in iron or steel objects. The resulting pattern is perfectly visible after being heated to a temperature of approximately 800 °C, which causes the oxidation and blackening of the steel surfaces and the highlighting of the gold ones. This type of goldsmithing, perfected over the centuries, was introduced in Spain by the Arabs, who turned the imperial city of Toledo into an important center of damascene craftsmanship, a condition that has lasted to the present day. The prestigious German brand Pelikan adopted, in 1931, this technique in the production of the Toledo model, and the success was such that its primitive design has remained practically intact to the present day. Today, the ornamental band is placed on a solid sterling silver jacket that is laboriously worked in different steps that culminate in its final coating with 24 carat gold. This is a complex process, carried out entirely by hand and in an individualized manner, which ends with the signing and numbering of the piece by the master craftsman, making it a unique work of art. On the cap, which like the body is made of high quality black resin, is mounted the original gold-plated clip with the pelican motif that gives the brand its name. Its filling system has a plunger integrated into the barrel and a translucent green "window" that allows you to control the amount of ink available. This true writing jewel is completed by an extraordinary 18-karat gold nib with a two-tone finish that will satisfy the needs of the most demanding users. As for its exclusivity, it is worth noting that the enjoyment of this true work of art is only available to a select few.
