Daikokuten is an example of Ryobu Buddhism, reconciling indigenous Japanese traditions with Chinese Buddhism. The body is adorned with the God sitting on a bundle of rice, holding the magical mallet that grants wishes. On the cap, a mouse appears, symbolizing numerous descendants.
