Probably no model better represents the essence of Montegrappa than the Extra 1930 fountain pen, a writing instrument inspired by old specimens from the 1930s preserved in the museum collection of the prestigious Italian firm and which, despite its short existence, has already become a modern classic for the brand. The celluloid with which the barrel and cap of this marvelous piece are made is a compound derived from cellulose, widely used in the past in the manufacture of fountain pens. Among its qualities is the fact that the pattern of each pen made with this material is different from the previous one, which gives it an additional plus by turning each fountain pen into a true work of art, a completely exclusive object. The Extra 1930 model is presented in "Bamboo black", a finish that combines with great success the depth of black with greens of different shades, recalling the plant species that gives it its name, the Asian black bamboo. The materials used in its manufacture are also a sample of its ornamental details, made in 925 sterling silver and distributed at various points of the piece, such as its cap, which is crowned with a beautiful jewel decorated with an emblem in relief that includes the founding date of the Montegrappa company -1912- framed at the top by a delicate fretwork and at the bottom by a laurel wreath. This also houses its stylized clip, equipped with a practical wheel that rotates to facilitate a smooth insertion into the pockets of our clothes, and finally, its most striking element is the large cap band that constitutes its lower end, surrounded by an imposing fretwork on which the name of the Italian firm is engraved. Likewise, in sterling silver are manufactured the ring located in the butt area, which breaks the monotony, introducing a chromatic contrast with the predominant color of the celluloid, and its grip section, which houses the thread that makes up its secure locking system. This fountain pen features an integrated piston loading system and an ebonite feeder, which provides a constant and generous flow of ink to its two-tone 18-carat solid gold nib with platinum mask, an element that also features an engraved decoration in which the fretwork motif and the commemorative logo of its foundation present on the band and the cap jewel are repeated again along with the company's name, its place of origin -Italy- and the point of the pen.
